Blind Love by Nina Pierce

Uptight CPA and oldest sister, Julie Tilling, is the glue that binds her family. Everyone depends on her to do the right thing. When her friend from high school dies and Julie is the only one who believes he didn’t commit suicide, she takes it upon herself to investigate his death.

Damon Corey didn’t come to Maine to become a shock jock. But when his dream career of becoming a concert pianist seems unobtainable, the radio station’s offer is too good to pass up. When mysterious brunette Jewel, hooks up with him at the night club run by a college frat brother, their one night fling wraps around his heart and makes him believe in love at first sight.

But can Damon expose his inner soul without pushing Julie away or will his enigmatic shock jock persona become Julie’s sexual undoing and reveal him as the missing piece that solves the puzzling questions surrounding her friend’s death?

Julie Tilling is reeling from the death of her best friend. The police are calling it a suicide, but Julie isn't buying it. She knew Jason too well, knew he'd never take his own life, and sets off to prove it. But, in doing so, she'd have to shed the good, dependable, responsible daughter-and-sister persona that weighs her down and embrace the wild side she never knew exhisted. That's when she meets Damon, and his outragous, sexy alter ego, Demon Jones, Shock Jockey. Suddenly her sheltered, stable life is turned upside down.

Nothing is as it seems. Not the new mysterious Damon, and certainly not the best friend she'd know since childhood. The more she digs into his death, the more secrets she uncovers, and she begins to wonder if she ever knew Jason at all. Meanwhile, Damon remains by her side helping to sort the mystery out, yet hoping to keep his own secrets hidden. Secrets of how he just might be connected to Jason's death. The ending comes with a twist you wont see coming.

"I'll have an iced tea," she shouted into the bartender's ear.

"Long Island?"

"No, Delmont." That was a strange question. Why would he care where she was from? Maybe he was just hitting on her.

"No, Dee, you didn't wake me. Thanks for asking." She mouthed "my sister" to Damon who nodded and ran his tongue over the pulse point of her throat and she gasped in response.

"You okay? You sound out of breath."

"Breathless? Me? Oh, I was just doing some sit-ups before bed…and yes, before you say anything, I know what time it is. Sometimes I stay up this late. It is the weekend."

"You always do aerobics before turning in?"

"Don't worry about my fitness routine. Did you want something at this hour?"

"What a nice surprise. I thought you couldn't make it," Julie spoke loud enough for everyone to hear, then leaned in to press her flushed cheek against the stubble of his chin. "What the hell are you doing with my parents?"

"I haven't figured that one out myself."

"Look, Julie. I'm not going to lie to you. Demon Jones is very popular with the ladies. Damon Corey…not so much. If you're looking for the person I was last night, well, you're in for a big surprise. He's as fake as Santa Claus."

The tip of her tongue darted out to wet her full lips. "I still believe in Santa Claus."

She would. "The Easter bunny, then."

"But he doesn't try to pass himself off as anything but the chocolate peddler that he is. I don't think any hearts have ever been broken by the Easter bunny."

"Julie…" Damon's hand found its way to her cheek, his fingers tangling in her hair.

Ms. Pierce has penned a wonderful mystery with twists and turns that will keep the reader guessing until the very end. The chemisty between Julie and Damon is smoking with sex scenes that will have you squirming in your seat. It doesn't get much better than this. Intrique, family dynamics, hot sex and a true happy ending. I'll be looking for the second book in what promises to be a great series.
