Shelton in Love by Dianne Hartsock

Shelton is falling hard for his best friend and roommate, finding Nevil's dark good looks and moments of gentleness almost impossible to resist. But Nevil is more interested in affairs of the body than the heart. As Shelton's desire for the man grows, he wonders if he can change Nevil's mind. But does he even want to? Nevil might not stay, once he learns Shelton's secret, and then his loneliness would be complete.

Here is a tale that perfectly shows how rooming with someone you have a secret yearning for can mess with your emotions. Shelton, an adorable guy who watches the man he loves go out with several different men, hides how this makes him feel. He’s a friend to Nevil, and as friends do, they support and sound interested in what you’re doing. Shelton is interested in Nevil’s life, but not because he wants to know everything about who Nevil is seeing and how that relationship is progressing. He’d rather not hear about it, but I got the feeling that knowing these things was better than nothing—at least he had Nevil’s attention for a while.

Nevil’s latest date couldn’t make it, so Shelton goes out with him instead. The inevitable happens, and poor Shelton grabs the chance to have close time with the man of his dreams but at the same time knows it may well be just a one-off. This was sad, I felt sorry for him, wanting Nevil to buck up and see what was right in front of him.

Then we have Nevil, who has been dating various men, searching for the right one, yet the right one was there all along. He’s flirted with Shelton in the past but never really given a relationship with him much thought. But things are set to change, and his life takes on a new turn he hadn’t expected.

…but Shelton was shaken to his patent leather shoes.

So many colors.

“It’s been so long, I don’t remember.”

…urging Nevil to come in and kiss away his hurt and loneliness.

“But I want forever.”

A wonderful tale of two men—one knowing what he wants, the other not knowing until he had it. I loved the emotions of Shelton, how when Nevil said certain things it cut deep, but Nevil had no idea what he was saying was hurting his roomie. Shelton will make you want to hug him really hard. I loved him!

I'm so glad you liked my story! Thank you for the very nice review. I think Shelton's adorable, too, and I'm happy he gets his 'happily ever after', at least until the next book!
